ReadBuddy is a reading companion app for parents: it generates age-appropriate articles that kids can read on paper, on a Kindle, or on the phone. We built it so that we store nothing about you on our servers.
You sign in with Apple or Google. Your identity provider confirms who you are; our server verifies that confirmation and issues a temporary session token to your device. Your name and email address are embedded in that token on your device only — our server does not keep them.
The reader profile you enter (name, age, difficulty level), your optional Kindle email address, and your generated-article history are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
When you generate an article, the topic, the reader's age, difficulty, and desired reading time are sent to our server, which uses OpenAI's API to write the article text. These requests are not linked to a stored profile (we don't have one). OpenAI's handling of API data is described in OpenAI's API data usage policies.
ReadBuddy accounts are created and managed by parents. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children; the reader profile a parent enters never leaves the device.
Use Settings → Delete Account & Data in the app to erase everything (reader profile, Kindle email, article history) and sign out. Because nothing is stored server-side, deleting the app from your device removes all your data too. Session tokens expire on their own within seven days.
